So Excited!

I had my first screening tonight! I have to admit I was a little bit nervous about doing it. I kind of had this fear that no one was going to show up, but I was so wrong! It was so great to see everyone who came, and I was so excited to share with all of them what I will be doing in the next couple of months. I loved answering their questions, and listening to everyone! It was also nice to catch up before I leave on August 4th!
Here is a little fundraising update...as of tonight I have raised a total of $1,000!!! I can't believe it! We are almost there guys! AND Jonathan Paul Miller invited me to come speak at his college group, which will be amazing. $5.00 can go a long way when a lot of people donate, so who knows? And if I don't raise any money that is great too, because at least I will have had the opportunity to share the word about Invisible Children to another group of people! Keep praying that I raise the rest of the $2,000!

Here are some things that have really been on my heart in prayer
1. Please pray for Joseph Kony and his soldiers (both the adults and children). God has been reminding me that he loves them too, and they need our prayers. I have specifically been praying that God would speak to them and change their hearts. We serve a big God, so don't second guess what he can do!
2. Pray for the children of Uganda, that they get to experience God's love in a powerful way!
3. Pray for my team and I. We leave in less than two weeks, and have a lot of work ahead of us. We need endurance, grace and lots of love!!!

East Coast Baby!

Ok, so not entirely the East Coast....but part of it! I have officially been assigned a region and I am so excited. The phone calls went out today...and ok, wait let me tell you the story.

So, I was working at Mercy Education Resource Center today tutoring some students. During a 30 minute break I checked my e-mail to see if the e-mails had gone out. No luck! So, I thought "I will go on facebook." When I got there I saw that some of the roadies were posting their regions! I was reading them to see where people were posted (and wondering why I did not have the e-mail yet!) I kept reading, "They are calling regions from the West to the East!" "Middle America!" "Texas" "Get your phone...it's a phone call not an e-mail!"

When I saw that I ran from one end of the office to the other. My feet were making so much noise and I ran, but I had a mission, and there was no stopping me! When I got my phone I saw that no one had called. "Good! I did not miss the call!" So I sat and waited....and waited....and waited. THEN! It happened, they called and told me where I will be located!

The MID-ATLANTIC! Ok, a little vague? I will be traveling to Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina! I also got to talk to some of my teammates tonight. Faith, Adam, Brennan and I are traveling in the Mid-Atlantic region. I talked to Faith tonight for two hours. She is such an amazing girl, and I am so excited that we are on a team together. I know that God totally handpicked us to be on a team together.

Ok so I need all of your prayers, especially since we are less than two weeks away from the big move!
1. That God provides financially. I have raised about $650 that I know of right now. Please keep praying. I know God will provide!
2. For unity among my team members, and the larger team and that we build strong and meaningful relationships

Getting Ready

Welcome!
I am so excited that many of you will be joining me as I embark on a journey of a lifetime working with Invisible Children this fall. Jensen made me this beautiful blog, so be sure to thank him for his hard work when you see him next! Be sure to bookmark by blog/subscribe so you can stay up to date with my many adventures!

SKYPE
While I am on the road I will be changing my cell phone plan and making it go down to the lowest plan to save money (I don't get paid, remember!). So, I have decided that the best way to stay in contact is with Skype. Many of you may already have it, which is awesome! Add me to your friends list! My skype name is Christaadell, or you can search for Christa Geist, Sacramento, CA. For everyone else, download skype and make use of that web cam you have lying around! I am specifically thinking of my mother...as I know she has one and probablyh as never used it! Skype is a free internet program that can be used to chat online, or like a phone. If you have a webcam, you can see each other! Seeing as I will have access to a computer with a webcam, it is your job to get one in return so we can talk!! I don't want to forget what your beautiful faces look like!

Updates
So, here is some updated information for those of you who keep asking, and those who just want some more! I have officially purchased my plane ticket for San Diego. I was thrilled to discover that there is another intern flying in at the same time as me (John). He is from Arkansas, and we have already made arrangements to meet up at the airport! I fly into San Diego at 12:30 August 4th, and will be picked up by someone from Invisible Children and taken back to our house/dorm...I say dorm because there will be between 40-60 people living there for those five weeks. I have been told that the house is 7 bedrooms, has two kitchens, two living rooms, a garage/hangout room and four bathrooms. The house is two stories, and is split into two floors (one for girls and one for boys), and there will be between 7 and 8 people per room! It is a good thing I am an experienced dorm dweller!

Fundraising Update
My brother Marc helped me out by putting me into contact with his friend that owns/operates "The Cause Clothing." Eddie, (the creator) has donated $300 towards my fundraising goal of $2,000! I have also received donations from a few other people. Now I only have $1590 left to raise! I sent out about thirty prayer/support letters, and many people have promised to donate towards my goal as well. I am so thankful that the Lord is providing in many ways. He never ceases to amaze me with all that he does. (Both seen and unseen!)

Contact Info
For those of you who are dying to know, I will be living in La Mesa, and working in San Diego for five weeks starting August 4th. Here is the address if you want to send me some mail! (postcards, letters and packages are always welcome and even encouraged!)

That is all I have for now! I hope to send you some updated information with the details of where I will be working after we leave San Diego! There were some last minute delays, so I won't find out until next week.
